Why is teen pregnancy so glamorized these days?

Is it cool to be 12 and pregnant? I am just wondering. Don’t get me wrong, kids are an amazing joy and a blessing, but when do you draw the line for teens having kids. At 16, I was still doing ‘kid’ stuff, and having a kid is just something that I never would have thought about. I’m not judging, no, not one bit. If having a kid is something you want to do, feel free. But at the same time, when are you ‘fit’ to become a parent?  Why there is a show on MTV called teen mom? I feel that this show is glamorizing teen pregnancy. I feel that instead of educating teens to practice safe sex or no sex until later on, it shows that you can get your on television series by being 16 and pregnant. Being a teenager and pregnant is so common these days. It’s almost a norm. I just can’t see why kids want to grow up and be adults so fast. Maybe being pregnant, to them, seems like a ways to grow up. Well, once you have a kid of your own, you will have to grow up. The point I really want to make is this, if a teenager is pregnant and unmarried, what kind of lifestyle does this make for their children? Is the father willing to commit to the mother and raise the child? Will the father not be involved and the mother end up in poverty? How do these teen mothers explain their situations to their kids? What if these teen mothers have no support system such as family or close friends to help them out? There are so many complications to being a teen mom. I wonder do teens realize these things. Maybe it’s the parents. Maybe they just don’t care. Maybe they want a child that will love them unconditionally because no one else has. Who knows.

The life I live :)

Karis is the name (Just like PARIS, but with a K)! I'm a senior at Henderson State University studying Business Management, Marketing, and Sociology. My major is General Studies, which gives me the opportunity to take courses in different areas and have a broad range in job opportunities! I am very interested in blogging because I like to express my feelings with words. Sometimes it’s hard for people to understand how I am truly feeling, therefore if I can get it out on paper, nine times out of ten I feel much better. It’s a great way to get your opinion out and about. You never know, someone may feel that exact same way you do. I am from Ashdown, Arkansas, which is located in the southwest corner of the state! Go Panthers! I love music and I am an alumina of the Showband of Arkansas! I am a member of an amazing organization, Tau Beta Sigma. We serve our band and community. I love being a part of something so positive, while doing something that I love. I have a huge family! My grandparents are my inspiration. They never got to finish school because they had to drop out to help take care of their families, but they made sure all EIGHT of their children when to college. They want us to have more opportunities than they were given. We have the opportunity to do great things, and having an education just makes are chances of success greater. I am really interested in real estate, it’s actually what I aspire to have a career in. I want to be involved in commercial, as well as residential property. This may seem geeky, but I actually love how you can buy an old house, renovate it, and rent it out to people. That just blows my mind! I love how you can take an old building in your neighborhood, clean it up, and turn it into a community center. Things such as those just make me want to do that in every city in America! Photography is something that I enjoy. I have been thinking about taking a few courses and looking into starting a photography company. I love capturing those memorable moments of life! Things that make me happy are when people smile. Even if you don’t raise your hand to speak or even say a word, just smiling gracefully makes things great! I love those days off when I can just lay around and watch television and movies all day. I love snow days! I like putting on my gloves, hats, and snow boots, going outside and making snowmen and having my face buried in the snow; it reminds me so much of my childhood. I love the summer days when you just sit outside and watch the sun set. I am a very simple person. I get cold easily. I like to sing (behind closed doors, ha-ha). I want to be a good civilian and a positive role model in the community. I want to live life, because we aren’t promised tomorrow!
